A mass driver is a particularly cool theoretical way to send things from the moon to the Earth(ish). I figure if I was up there, I might as well make myself useful and send back moon things, particularly if I wasn't there alone and we could get some lunar mining going.
As for the brass cannon... well, I read The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress too often when I was younger and now it's pretty much what I picture if I imagine being on the moon.
